Hi! I've just recently began trading cryptocurrencies, and as the www holds much of information, I started very small (o.o2 BTC). Luckily for me, a coin can go lower than 3 decimal points :). Poloniex. Stay away, stay away as a plague. Why? Carry on reading. First, I got my BTC bought, transfered that to Poloniex. No big deal, went through fairly quick. Then I bought some ETH, sent that to my ether wallet, and this is very things started to get suspicious. Txid is not valid, non existant. Ammount wasn't much, was only 0.022 ETH, received it 0.018. So, a logical assumption is there is a withdrawal fee, right? Correct, but not as user friendly as I would expect. On the withdraw page, where you click the currency, you get a notification about the fees. ETH fee is a flat 0.005 ETH, which is again, fine by me. My question revolves around how profit is returned to you when closing a position. If I margin buy eth using eth as collateral I have borrowed btc and used it to buy eth. If the price then goes up and I close my position what happens? I can think of two different things. Your debt is paid by taking enough eth to pay back your btc debt (including transaction fees) and the remaining eth is returned to the account where your collateral is as profit. Your whole position is closed by trading all of your eth (not collateral) for btc. Your debt is then paid from that amount and the rest is returned to you as profit in eth. This would mean that you've paid transaction fees twice to convert eth to btc and then back to eth so that it matches your collateral currency. Also, what happens if you close most of your position such that your whole debt is paid? E.g If you have a position of 1 eth and the price has moved so that 25% of that is profit. Hey guys, I was wondering what I need on the wire transfer information for a deposit on kraken. The last time I made a deposit was when it was cavirtex in 2013, and it wasn't nearly as difficult. I know where the wire transfer information is, but my main problem is that the address lines don't even fit in my bank's wire transfer field. I did a bank transfer of $500 from Wellsfargo to Gemini on Sunday. Normally, Gemini pre-credits you that amount instantly so you can trade right away. Bit of a situation I am trying to figure out, and I assume I am not the only one. With a growing portfolio that I am shoveling all free cash into, I am becoming more and more concerned that I have some blind spots as it relates to which exchanges to trust, my own process for security, and emerging opportunities. I work a ridicules 60-70+ hours a week which on one hand gives me the income to invest, but means I am very limited on the time to read white papers, research teams, move on and off exchanges and generally keep up. So I backed up my phone before factory resetting it and lost all of my google authenticator information. Luckily I still had my 16 digit keys saved and was able to get my 2FA codes back.
