Hi All, Looking to understand whether I would pay short or long term capital gains taxes as it relates to ICOs. I know the short term is <1 year while long term is >1 year but when does the clock begin. Is it from the day I invested in an ICO or the day the coins were distributed (nearly a month after the ICO)? For what its worth, I have clear records of me sending BTC to the ICO deposit address. However, the records on me receiving the coins are a bit off as I didn't claim my coins until well after they were distributed by the altcoin team. I have no preference between regular trading and holding on, I want to educate myself before I do constant trading of course. I would like some diversification, perhaps 3-5 options? Looking for a site, or app. That I can track my trades in USD value (mostly for tax purposes) The problem I'm having is if I look at my trade history on POLO it gives me the value in BTC. The problem with that though is the price of BTC being so volatile i'm not sure how much I actually paid for the coin a month ago unless I go and look up the price of bitcoin on the date. I've tried using block folio but for some reason I can't change the "trading pair" I used USD to buy ETH, yet it won't let me change it from BTC. Could someone explain to me how my margin account P/L is different to the sum of my individual positions P/L values? Each of my positions is currently negative, yet my margin account summary has a positive (P/L). Is this an error or because of the fluctuating value of the borrowed capital? I want some QUICK money preferably on day trading. How to?
