How Airbitz Hopes to Keep Bitcoin Decentralized on Mobile Wallets

Airbitz is one of the more popular mobile bitcoin wallets among those who believe in the digital assets core tenet of decentralization. Recently, Bitcoin Magazine caught up with Airbitz CEO Paul Puey to get his thoughts on preserving Bitcoins decentralization in a smartphone environment.Decentralization has always been a key goal of our wallet, but of course balanced with usability, Puey told Bitcoin Magazine. While we present a login interface that mirrors a centralized, hosted solution, our

Blockstack Summit Tackles the Future of Decentralization

Following a week of bombshell developments in the industry, from the SEC classifying the DAO Tokens as securities to the arrest of Alexander Vinnik for allegedly laundering 4 billion dollars through BTC-E, the inaugural Blockstack Summit kicked off on the morning of July 27th with an eye toward innovative layered protocols that can exist on top of existing blockchains.Hosted at the Computer Science Museum in Mountain View, CA, the conference began with a discussion of transitions between the

What caused BTC, ETH, LTC, etc. to make such massive leaps in price?

I am relatively knew to the crypto game, and the best way I have seen so far to make a lot of money, besides day-trading, is getting in on a coin early. What is your opinion about Factom? (FCT)

What is your opinion on Factom? I've been looking into this coin and so far quite impressed with their product ( working product I might). It is described as follows " A DATA LAYER FOR THE BLOCKCHAIN PROOF OF EXISTENCE: A document existed in this form at a verified time. PROOF OF PROCESS: A document existed and is linked to this new updated document. PROOF OF AUDIT: A document when it changed can be verified to have changed according to a set of rules. "* This absolutely basic function seems akin to the invention of the paper clip. Nobody really notices but it's so useful. With all the document tampering, deeds getting lost in conspicuous fires, etc.. Seems to me like the world is in severe need of a protocol like this one. FCT is itself a decentralized immutable network, but it further anchors (hashes) to the Bitcoin blockchain to enhance its immutability and security. In theory this means someone would have to out-hack not only the Bitcoin network, but

Thoughts on Lisk

I recently read about Lisk for the first time. Didn't read that much but it sounded like it tries to be a better Version of Etherium. But since it is not mineable, it still differs quiet heavily. Most promising thing though is, that it is created with Java-Script. I know many people don't like Java-Script, but there are a lot of developers for Java-Script that would not need to learn a new language like the case with Ethereum. Do you think it has potential to rise once they release their SDK? submitted by /u/Toxin_Snake [link] [comments] Read More

Current thoughts on investing in Ethereum?

I am very new to this and have recently bought a very small amount of Ethereum. My plan is to hold on to it long term. I've seen a couple of comments claiming that by the end of the year, Ethereum will go down to $80, while other people claim it will rise to $500 by the end of the year. How to best trade Bitcoin for Neo during/after the fork?

During the fork I expect there to be some strong movement between all the bitcoins. I predict that Bitcoin will do a hard dip but then recover swiftly because of BCC. I can see people selling their altcoins to buy Bitcoin in order to maximize this idea of "free money" from selling BCC. Then I expect people to buy back their Altcoin. For these reasons I have placed a Limit order to buy a single Bitcoin if Bitcoin gets to 2000. I will then use half that bitcoin to purchase as much Neo as possible. My question is, given this plan, what are some of the best ratios for purchasing Neo with Bitcoin? Neo is currently hanging around 7.20. I predict it to go to at least as low as 6 temporarily before shooting back up. So the fluctuation should be around 5-9 for Neo. Given this prediction, when is the best to to buy into Neo with my 1/2 bitcoin? And also, when is the worst time to buy? As in, what price should I buy Neo at to maximize my amount of Neo. I predict a very small window

Tell me why "Tokens" are not going to be a snoozefest of bad ROI and slow, miniscule gains?

When you've got a bunch of Silicon Valley types flooding into the cryptocurrency world with their knowledge only of the stock market, and the creation of these performance-based "stocks" (which they're calling tokens), you've got a completely different world than we've seen on ICO's like Ethereum, Namecoin, Litecoin, Augur, from the past. First off - what are the ramifications of having no miners? No client? I know nothing, but it seems to me when you have no mining, you cut out a massive group of individuals who would bring liquidity and incentive to participate. People vested in the success of the project. Granted, Cryptocurrency ICO's have been one-thousand-percent speculation. Not performance-based like these Token ICO's, which remind me more of stocks than cryptocurrencies. What I am seeing so far is almost no movement (civic coin for example), MASSIVE total token supplies (averaging 1 billion usually - which is ridiculous), and ICO prices

Please Help Me Understand The Fork?

I'm slightly confused on this. Many exchanges are providing bitcoin cash on a 1:1 basis. For instance 1 btc = 1 share of bitcoin cash. Where is this money coming from? If BTC is worth $2800 will it suddenly be worth $1400 when the fork occurs and you'll have $1400 worth of bitcoin cash? If this is the case, won't alt coins lose half their value instantly since bitcoin is their dictator? So if you own 500 coins of "coin X" and coin X is currently worth 0.05 bitcoin and the value of a bitcoin is worth $2800 then coin X individual value is $140 giving you a total value of $70,000. Now if the value of bitcoin is suddenly cut in half and you own 500 coins worth 0.05 bitcoins then suddenly your value of Coin X goes from $70,000 to $35,000. If you're invested in an ALT coin on the exchange do they still consider you to have ownership of BTC? For instance in the above example, you technically own 25 btc (70k/2800). Do they credit you with 35k in bitcoin cash an

FREE 300$ per 1 BTC or why bitcoin is rising while alts fall.

As you know, since August 1st we're going to have BTC and BCC and if you hold x BTC now you get x BCC as well. And what is the price of BCC? At viabtc.com its futures are traded at 300+$. So it's basically a no-brain trade, even if you buy BTC now and it falls (but less than BCC price) you still make profit. But you still don't have to sell it right after. As uncertantity unveils, price of either (or maybe both) goes up. And if you think that 300$ if not enough, kraken offers this: "Long XBT margin positions held across the fork will result in a BCH credit". So you can long with margin, everyone is doing this now as they want free BCC. That's why price of BTC is and will be rising (human greed is one thing that always there). This is a bubble ofc and it's impossible to predict what happens after 1/08. If you got the nerves and can control emotions, you can profit a lot from this tho. submitted by /u/Slightly_Favored [link] [comments] Read More
