How much risk is too much?

Bit of a situation I am trying to figure out, and I assume I am not the only one. With a growing portfolio that I am shoveling all free cash into, I am becoming more and more concerned that I have some blind spots as it relates to which exchanges to trust, my own process for security, and emerging opportunities. I work a ridicules 60-70+ hours a week which on one hand gives me the income to invest, but means I am very limited on the time to read white papers, research teams, move on and off exchanges and generally keep up. The little time I do have I end up reading about this guy getting hacked and robbed on Poloniex. DDoS attacks freezing accounts and then this guy who seemingly had his 2FA fail him. I am assuming only a small portion of us work in crypto/digital assets professionally and have the time to devote enough attention.. how do you guys keep up, I hate cutting corners and feel like the whole space is getting riskier by the day? submitted by /u/goforchambers [lin

If the exchanges had a "traffic meter" or some kind of visual representation of how much traffic they are receiving, we as a community and client-base would probably be able to solve our own problems.

Seriously, if anyone has any pull at any of the exchanges we would love to have a more detailed idea of what's going on with the site when there are issues. Even further than that we want to help. I understand there are security issues tied to sharing information like that, but still... I was thinking just a percentage of capacity.. but honestly ANY information you can give us that can help us help you support your website's functionality would be good. .... defcon colors? someone will respond with something that already exists for that but that's fine... I'm prepared. submitted by /u/blocknewb [link] [comments] Read More

Poloniex says I have an incorrect 2FA code!? I can't access my account please read

So I backed up my phone before factory resetting it and lost all of my google authenticator information. Luckily I still had my 16 digit keys saved and was able to get my 2FA codes back. I am able to get into Coinbase and Bittrex just fine but when I enter my 2FA code into Poloniex it keeps saying incorrect code?? Does anyone know of anything I can do or any suggestions? I can't even submit a ticket because I can't get into my account... Any help would be appreciated. submitted by /u/EuphoricTrees [link] [comments] Read More

$KORE - the future of communication

I dont know if anyone of you ever heard about $KORE. Until few days ago it was being at the same price as the last year, but few whales recognized it and it is climbing steady. As you can see, the idea is decentralised communication, without the possibility of surveilance from goverment. So new Skype/Viber. KORE is not a P&D scam coin where the devs take all the BTC and leave the investors holding the bags while stealing the communities and well meaning peoples ideas. The head of IT has a signed contract as well as is fully Doxed as are most on the Team. At the time of release or sooner he and other highly skilled, talented and qualified Team Members and Coders will be public in their representing the KORE Team projects. It was stagnating for some time before this current developers took it over. Now it is being developed daily. As a coins price rises there will be New highs and corrections as with Bitcoin and in time speculators, whales and bots get a hold on the movement of a

Crypto Market Falls Below $100 Billion

The combined crypto-currencies market cap fell below $100 billion yesterday as we saw large losses across the board. Bitcoin fell against the US Dollar and almost all altcoins fell versus bitcoin, leading to the market cap declining from a high of over $115 billion last week to ‘only’ $92 billion at the moment. Bitcoin Remains in Range Bitcoin is currently quoted at $2,397 on FXOpen, down $280 dollars from last Tuesday. In percentage terms, this is just over 10%. On the chart below we can see that the majority of the losses transpired during the past three days. We had no major news releases during this time so we can chalk up the latest down move to technical reasons. CryptoNoob

Howdy there! I am a newbie on Reddit as well as the crypto scene. I have been doing a lot of research into the community and I am excited about what I have seen so far.I've been looking for some suggestions on how to get started into day trading...which has lead me here. What I have done so far is taken steps to lock down my accounts/wallets. I've joined a few different exchanges and have been studying how they behave. Signed up for coinigy and been studying charts and how to read them. I've also been reading up on the various different main currencies as well as the alt coins....I am not really sure on what would be a good amount to try and build from...I was thinking like 500 usd maybe less just to play around with? Any extra tips or advice would be much appreciated :) submitted by /u/_SleepyBear_ [link] [comments] Read More

We will never ask you for money and if someone do it on our behalf it's trying to steal your coins. Why another group? [Help] I lost 11 BTC from my 16 BTC stack last year, I need advice to build my portfolio

Throwaway for obvious reasons. I started investing in Crypto in March 2016 after being skeptical about it. After reading book or two about Bitcoin and all its benefits I was excited (and I still am). I decided to make a long term investment and took 20% of my FIAT to invest in Bitcoin. I took the plunge and bought 16 Bitcoins @ $550 ~ $680 between march and june 2016, but then I discovered Poloniex I got greedy and I started trading being a noob. I didn't know a thing about trading and started investing in "shit-coins" to make a quick buck — well oh well — long story short I lost a whopping 11 Bitcoins (@ ~$615), 28 ETH (@ ~$11) and 50 XMR (@ ~$8) as the result of my incompetence when trying to profit from P&D alt-coins and panic selling ETH/XMR. I was in total shock and devastated. I leaved the rest of my BTCs in a HW and forgot about it for a year; seriously, I didn't even watched the whole market for a year because I was so pissed off, then a friend — who&#

Exchange Rate Basics - Fiat/Crypto & Crypto/Crypto

Hey all, I have a question to pose about exchange rates: If you're looking at a pair of crypto-crypto, does the fiat price chart matter, or only the crypto-crypto pair chart, or both? -- Example: GNT does not have a USD fiat pair, so to trade it you have to go USD -> ETH (or BTC) -> GNT. Now you're involving (2) separate exchange rates together, USD/ETH and ETH/GNT. -- How do you track those to prove you've made a profit or loss? On Bittrex, ETH/GNT is 0.0020 meaning 1.00 GNT = 0.00200 ETH, and on Coinbase ETH is trading for ~$225.49. So that means the fiat price of 1.0 GNT should be ~$0.45098 ($225.49 * 0.00200). Is this the correct way? The charts for ETH/GNT and USD/GNT are so different. A high on one could be a low on another. submitted by /u/HideAndGoatse [link] [comments] Read More

Spoiler: in 3 years only Bitcoin and Ether will have any value

In 3 years only Bitcoin, Ether, and ICO-tokens (on throws Bitcoin or Ethereum) will have value. All other coins (like Dash, Monero, Zcash, etc.) will need to implement its unique features as a sidechain to Bitcoin, and the currency must be Bitcoin. Or the coin needs to be a token on Ethereum with smart contracts benefiting the holders. Coins that stay on their own chain will go to 0$. Separate chains have been good for experimentation while side chains were not possible, so the work is not wasted, it just needs to be ported. submitted by /u/crypticice [link] [comments] Read More

A few beginner questions, I would be very grateful if someone could take the time to answer.

Firstly, I want to invest in around 15 coins to diversify and in several ICOs. If I make any profit in the next 6 months good, if not, good, i learned something. However I have several logistical problems: Let's say I buy some altcoins from novaexchange or coinexchange.io that are nowhere else tradeable. Should I get a wallet for each coin I invest in or should I just trust these sites to keep my coins safe for X amount of time? Assuming I will invest in 15 coins, these coins will be spread across multiple trading platforms. How do you guys keep track of them other than writing them down (google sheets)? submitted by /u/sadshark [link] [comments] Read More
