Short Term Capital Gains Tax
Fellow traders, I am curious to know how everyone is dealing with the short term capital gains tax that we are subject to while trading cryptos. The tax is about 20% if an asset is held for a period less than 1yr. Does anyone have any workarounds with some magic accounting loophole? Or is everyone HODLing for >1yr? I know there is a bit of a debate going on regarding crypto to crypto trades and whether or not they are taxed. Buying Cryptocurrencies gambling unless you know the fundamental value
Everybody who argues for buying cryptocurrencies I talk to never has an idea of what they are worth. They just always say things like "it went up a lot and it will go up more" but this is nonsense bubble talk. Bit coin currently has a market cap larger than General Motors, a company with billions in profit. When people argue bitcoin should be worth more than General Motors, they usually don't have any good reasons to back that up. What do people expect? Bitcoin to be worth as much as Apple? Let's say the price of a coin is 100 and I want to put a stop limit sell in place when the price drops 10%, to prevent any further losses.
