Compare the amount of ETH and BTC cashed out from ICO's with the recent drop in market cap?

If anyone has the time to do this, I'd be curious to count how many hundreds of millions $ or billions that ICO's the past 4-6 months have raised, and most likely cashed out to fiat, and see if that correlates somewhat or at all with how much market cap we have lost recently. Could the ICO explosion be bleeding capital from our crypto financial system? If so, this could put a damper on the usual comeback / growth periods we usually see with crypto periods. Maybe this time it doesn't rebound as fast simply because of the giant leak in the tub   FOR EXAMPLE: If we usually see $25 million in new capital inflow into cryptos each month, but now with all the ICOs, we have $100 million a month LEAVING cryptos, this is a net loss and could slow growth rates significantly.. no? submitted by /u/3hackg [link] [comments] Read More

Taxes and Privacy

So many threads have questioned and discussed the many confusing aspects of tax laws as they relate to cryptocurrencies. I completely agree with how confusing and unfair many of these hypothetical scenarios are, but I've rarely heard anyone mention one of the most important aspects of the cryptocurrency tax conflict. Privacy. The elimination of central authorities from personal financial activity is perhaps the greatest aspect of cryptocurrency? Cryptocurrency truly frees people from intermediaries who's interests and motivations might not align with those of the individual. Shouldn't we have the right to personal financial sovereignty? If I bought and traded crypto (anonymously, for example without using an exchange) but never cash out to fiat, then I'm the only one who know exactly what I hold. I should have the right to keep it that way. Even though I'm fully willing to pay my fair share of taxes, I don't want to compromise my privacy by giving anyone, whe

Moscow's Blockchain Hackathon Reflects Booming Blockchain Industry in Russia

The hackathon took place at the

Op Ed Why SegWit2x Makes No Sense

A number of Bitcoin companies and miners have agreed to run code that will implement a hard-forking increase to the non-witness data in blocks roughly three months after the activation of Segregated Witness SegWit. According to some of its proponents, the proposal, known as SegWit2x, is said to be the only viable solution to the Bitcoin scaling debate. However, agreeing to initiate a hard fork without knowing how speculators will react to such a change comes with risks. If there is not full su

Study Late 2013 Bitcoin Bubble Fueled by Suspicious Trading Activity on Mt. Gox

According to a recent study by researchers from the University of Tulsa and Tel Aviv University, the massive increase in the bitcoin price in late 2013 was caused by suspicious trading activity on the now-defunct Mt. Gox Bitcoin exchange. The study, which is titled Price Manipulation in the Bitcoin Ecosystem, indicates that 600,000 bitcoins were acquired by agents who did not pay for them, and the bitcoin price rose by an average of $20 on days when the suspicious trading activity took place.

Connected coins?

Hi, relatively new to coins and reddit. Have any of you noticed that lately all mayor coins seem so follow near exact patterns? It seems that (appart, more or less, from BTC) coins as LTC, ETH go up and down more or less at same time, and with price differences also similar. a couple hundred dollars invested any day (or near days) in similar coins give very similar results. this happens in any mayor market (didn't looked at little markets) Just curious Excuse my English if any unconvenience submitted by /u/Ricardoch [link] [comments] Read More

Pump and Hold - The Ethical Pump Group

Hey guys, we are Pump and Hold! We are a group of investors who have had enough of all these other pump groups pumping, dumping and killing coins that have real potential for growth. We have traded in the cryptocurrency market for years and know the ins and outs of this market as well as which coins are worth pumping and which coins are a lost cause. This is why we will never ask you to pump shitcoins or on shit exchanges, because if you are stuck with them it may be very hard to sell them without selling for a loss. We hope our members will have strong hands through all this volatility, and we empathize with those who have lost a lot in their portfolio, as we have too; so, we will not be pumping everyday but possibly twice or three times a week max. We believe in quality over quantity. We have had many successful pumps in the past with our private group, but we want to expand and organize pumps so that others can profit as well. The administrators of this group will not be getting

Where to weather the storm?

Apologies if this has already been posted and for the sheer speculation of this question. I was wondering what people's thoughts were as to which coins they found safest for riding out the storm that is currently in beast mode. I've heard many arguments as to why different coins would bounce back or be solid investments to hodl in the mean time. There are of course many factors and conditions that could play into the markets coming back or simply tanking. I'm not of the opinion that the whole sector is tanking and just on a collision course with the bottom. With all the FUD I've been hearing I thought it would be a nice change of pace to open up the discussion as to what people saw as stable solid investments. submitted by /u/Vol-Tron [link] [comments] Read More

WARNING: CryptoDAO Legitimacy

This happened to me about 36 hours ago: This past weekend I moved some BTC to CryptoDAO in hopes that I would be able to get some Populous (PPT) at a fairly reasonable price as I had missed the ICO. I moved 0.65 over and ended up not using any because I was able to get some off EtherDelta for a fair markup. I decided to move all of my funds to another secure wallet last night. I received an e-mail notification about confirmation of withdrawal, the web page status changed from pending to confirmed, and the funds were removed from my account. However, I was not sent ANY of my BTC back. They didn't even generate a transaction ID like everyone else does. I've sent them two e-mails since in which the only reply was "Account department will check, if need they will resend." I feel like my BTC is gone for good. Is this site legit or did I just fall hook, line, and sinker into a scam? In comparison to the rest of the community, I know 0.65 BTC isn't a lot but that was m

Bitcoin Tests Important Support

The meltdown in crypto prices continues, with many of the top 20 altcoins hitting drawdowns of over 50 percent from the highs. Luckily the two coins we follow on Tuesdays have so far avoided this fate. Bitcoin is down by ‘only’ 21 percent from the highs while LTC/USD is down by just over 17 percent. Bitcoin Bounces at Important Support Bitcoin tested the important support at $2,250 today. By the looks of things, the first try was unsuccessful for the bears. Prices dipped to a low of $2,245 on FXOpen today and stayed there for a grand total of 1 minute before bouncing back above the $2,250 mark. Soon after we had a major rally of $139 dollars to hit a high of $2,384. We have since fallen back a bit to $2,331 dollars per coin. Need to trade and graph Dogecoin, Bitcoin, Ether, and USD

I am debating on moving some of my long held Dogecoin to Ethereum and Bitcoin. I would prefer to do so on a day/week when Doge is strong compared to ether or bitcoin. How to reach coinbase support

Hi, Coinbase locked the withdrawal and deposit functionality on my account due to an issue with my bank during a transaction. The site allowed me to pay the amount in question via CC which i've attempted to do but it did not go through due to issues on their end (as they stated in the last response i received from them a while back) and my account is still frozen. I've been attempting to reach support since then via responding to my opened case, and emailing the coinbase+reddit multiple times. I haven't had a response since about 2 weeks. Anyone know any other means of reaching them? Also, sorry if this post doesn't belong here. Thanks. submitted by /u/hnytrs [link] [comments] Read More

I created a website that gives buy and sell signals on various cryptocurrencies to help compose a well diversified portfolio that periodically adapts to changes in recent market developpment

The algorithm automatically recomposes the portfolio every Monday at 00:15 am UTC to adapt to the new dynamic of the market. Each selected asset remains in the portfolio for 7 consecutive days. For some assets the position may be short to speculate on a fall in price (at this time for example the portfolio n ° 1 is short for about 70%). The strategy used is a mix of trend tracking and Harry Markowitz's portfolio theory. To summarize, the algorithm establishes a quality score for each cryptocurrency, based on its recent performance, on its volatility and its correlation with previously selected cryptocurrencies. For obvious reason I'm not going to reveal in detail how it works, I'm sure you'll understand. The graph includes a backtest period from January 2015 to December 2016 and since the algorithm uses the market data in real time. To replicate a position, you must enter limit orders at the Monday opening price. There is therefore a 15-minute lag between the time

Question about margin trading on polo.

Hi everyone. For the first time i got in trouble using margin trading. Currently I'm long on ETH (fml) and i decided to sell a part of my position and accept my loss to incease my margin. I always thought that when I sell a part of my long position at a lower price thani bought it, i would instantly lose a part of my money. But that wasn't the case. Instead I only increased my Base Price. But the rate at which my Loss increases is decreasig because of my lower margin holding. So currently I'm at -0.65 BTC and have 13 ETH left. When i sell another 12.9 ETH then I would still have 0.1 ETH in margin, but my P/L Value wouldn't decrease, or at least VERY slow, anymore. The downside would be that my Baseprice would be like infinte. So my entire Loss of 0.65 BTC would be concentrated in 0.1 ETH with a fucking high base price, but i didn't lose any money yet. OC i can't cash my money from selling the ETH out because it is locked in my margin account. My margin would
