Bittrex question: Is there a way to change the "% CHANGE" settings in the wallet display?

I've noticed it shows the % change that day, but I would much prefer to see the % change since I have bought the coin. Daily % change gives me no indication of how my coin is performing over a longer time frame. Example: I don't check my wallet in a week and a coin loses 50% of its value. On the day I check my wallet the price jumps 10%. I see 10% gains displayed in my wallet despite actually being at a loss. Not very helpful. submitted by /u/Salmon_Flavour [link] [comments] Read More

Where does the huge volatily come from? (Noob question)

When you watch the charts, there are some really big gaps in cryptocurrency prices. Take BTC rising to $1000 for a few days in 2014, then pumping and dumping a bit before staying as low as $400, then rising again almost to $3000 the past weeks, then below $2000... What are the reasons for such huge volatility? I get that a few people own a large part of BTC and are able to develop pump strategies, but it seems more and more difficult. There must be other reasons, but I have trouble understanding them. It's "easy" to explain volatility about traditional markets, when you consider bank rates, government decisions, economic success and failure, etc. So, in your expert opinion, what are the biggest reasons to the cryptocurrencies current almost unpredictable volatility? Thanks for your insight!! submitted by /u/cryptobrant [link] [comments] Read More

A way to hold the best ETH-ICOs in one token

Seriously crypto traders, I absolutely hate ICOs, however, this one looks so fucking good that I want to inform ppl about it - Harbour. It's a DAO that lets you hold multiple tokens at once, and the holders vote on buy/sell proposals for tokens. Plus, an $ETH dividend is distributed back to holders every quarter. So in other words, instead of taking huge risks investing in scammy ICOs, Harbour kinda does that for you with the "wisdom of the crowd" from their voting. Idk about you, but I see good opportunity in it. submitted by /u/manyisi [link] [comments] Read More

Is Coinbase ok for a small investor or what is a better alternative?

I've been following it for a good while and now I'm ready to invest in some crypto currencies. About 5k. I like Coinbase but I have heard some bad things. I plan to buy and hold for the medium to long term. Also concerned about their fees. I'm in Ireland so what alternatives should I look into? submitted by /u/zascar [link] [comments] Read More

Safe time to buy bitcoins on Gemini/Kraken/Coinbase? Till when?

I want to buy bitcoins, and at present I am using Gemini. I know that by August 1st, it is suggested to transfer all the bitcoins from online wallets to a wallet in my local machine. But I also read that 25th July is the date for BIP91 to be activated, with July 29 the deadline for the same. My concern is, if I buy bitcoins on Gemini, is it safe to transfer them to my local wallet in these days? Also, I want to trade some of them to other coins (on bittrex). Will there be enough trade volume in the btc pairs ? ( since most people wouldnt want bitcoins instead of other coins online? ) Please need some insight on this.. thanks submitted by /u/roynalnaruto [link] [comments] Read More

How legit are fears of Monero getting outlawed in the future?

I'm new to this sub, and have been debating buying eth vs xmr (skipping btc because I think I've missed most of its boom, so would rather avoid for now). Searching through this forum I came across multiple people talking about xmr getting outlawed due to its excess focus on privacy. Is this a possibility? I remember BTC being seen the same way a few years ago, no government outlawed btc. So why monero? submitted by /u/jhatsdogs [link] [comments] Read More
