Just starting In Alt Coin investing

I have done 2 days of Research on the best low cost High potential alt coins on the market and I think I'm more confused than informed. Everything seems like an opinion and a shot in the dark. Here are the ones I have learned about: Reddcoin, Siacoin, Dogecoin,Verge, and digibytes. No one has really giving me a good reason to invest in any of them other than "I think they are going to go up". Can someone show me where to find some good sound advice about these Alt coins and their potential? Or, should I just stick to Bitcoin and Ethereum? PS: I plan on investing in Stratis and actually ordered a Raspberry PI yesterday. submitted by /u/Weedtuff [link] [comments] Read More

What's the point of all of these new crypto coins other than the major ones like Bitcoin and Ethereum?

I understand the whole decentralized aspects of these coins and how they are revolutionary and future minded, but I do not understand why all of these new ICO's are happening. For all of these new companies that are springing up and creating their own coins... What is the point? It seems inconvenient that in the future we would have to use all of these different coins for different purposes? What is the point of Dash? It seems very very inconvenient to have to convert my crypto currencies to dash coins to send to someone... I'm just wondering why they would create their own coin when it would be so much more convenient for them to create a platform that sends Bitcoin and Ethereum... and other major Cryptos. It just seems overall very inconvenient from the consumer perspective. Why would a consumer ever be interested in using these alt coins for purchases and transferring money when they can just use their Bitcoin's and Ethereum for the same thing? submitted by /u/

Noob question about bittrex and altcoins

So I've bought some ripple and btc recently but I'm looking about getting into altcoins for some long term. I just want to know how bittrex works. Say I buy a coin with not much volume like bit bay(I don't know if it's OK to compare it to stocks). Can I directly exchange back to btc when I decide to sell or do I have to wait for someone to buy it like stocks? Any insight is helpful about exchanging on bittrex. And I'm looking in investing in swt, bitbay, strat, and maybe sia. Advice is always helpful. Thanks fellow redditors!!! submitted by /u/jtfaucheux [link] [comments] Read More

Lost coins on Polo - sold my coins (XCP) on a Stop limit order but my bitcoin balance has not updated

I logged in today and tried to sell my XCP coins normally but the timer icon just kept continuing indefinitely. Eventually I tried using a stop limit order which appears to have gone through but the bitcoins have not arrived. I am now missing around $300. I have seen this happen to others, so I am hoping someone from Polo can tag my ticket #210440 and pass it to an engineer. Or any advice on what to do from others who have experienced this problem? Failed Breakdown for Namecoin, Peercoin

Namecoin and Peercoin continue to be dragged down/up along with BTC prices. The two cryptos crashed during the May 26th/27th bitcoin dumping but has since recovered nicely as the big brother made new highs. Namecoin Prices Remain Range-bound Namecoin prices remain range-bound after a failed breakout to the downside. The correlation between BTC/USD and NMC/USD is still high. We can expect Namecoin to continue being the ‘victim’ of bitcoin’s fortunes. If you already have a bitcoin position keep in mind that you may be doubling your exposure with a NMC trade in the same direction. BTC.com Wallet Tries Discounting Some Priority Transaction Fees

Though currently still a beta feature, this will let BTC.com users pay some 94 percent less in fees for three transactions each month to have them confirm faster. The funds allocated toward the discounted transaction fees will be subsidized by the BTC.com Wallet. The new service comes at a time when transaction fees on the Bitcoin network are reaching all-time highs. Speaking on recent transaction fe

Ride Token nearing the end of its ICO.

Ride, Fly, Earn, Spend Ride Tokens are a revolutionary new crypto-currency based on the Ethereum platform, specifically designed to complement the travel and ride sharing industries. As you travel, you accumulate tokens at a ratio of one token per kilometer to start and the amount gained will decrease as more coins enter the market. This will be tracked via an app with GPS functionality that is currently being developed and makes use of proprietary anti-spoofing technologies. You can then spend these tokens on gift cards and other merchandise. We have partnered with industry experts to ensure that we have a variety of options to choose from. The tokens may be exchanged for other crypto-currencies such as Bitcoin or Ethereum, or directly for USD. We are in partnership negotiations with various exchanges and have already secured two exchanges. As the total amount of Ride Tokens increases, the discount rates on gift cards and merchandise will go down, allowing purchasers of the

Sorry, just another Poloniex withdrawal question

I joined Poloniex in late 2014, completed the level 2 verification but only made a few BTC to Clam and vice versa trades. My last login before yesterday was on 2015-08-10. After seeing so many threads on forums and here on reddit about Poloniex and their delays, etc, I thought: Hey! I think I might have some CLAM still left on there. Logged in, didn't find any clam but did find 0.08 BTC from an old CLAM exchange. Of course I decided to withdraw it right away and got the Awaiting Approval message. Since my IP changed and city (couple cities over, same state though) since my last login, I'm pretty sure I just setoff their security and this was flagged to be manually reviewed. My question is, since it's a small amount, should I stress over this if support doesn't respond to tickets and etc or just take it as a lose? Most of the other threads don't include information like how much trade volume they were doing, verification status or if they left for awhile and came

BTC vs USD gains

An idea that I see heavily pushed in trading groups is that traders should focus on altcoin gains vs BTC and not USD. Why is this the preferred method? Are those two goals actually different at all? I have no interest in BTC but use it mostly as a safe harbor. If my portfolio is appreciating versus USD but not BTC, I'm still making gains on trades. submitted by /u/Meat-brah [link] [comments] Read More

Do you think it makes sense not to hold large amounts of a single crypto, but instead diversify in market as a whole?

I'm starting to doubt that even holding majority of stake in the main cryptos (Bitcoin and Ethereum) is a good idea. After all, anything unexpected can happen. Bitcoin will split, Ethereum is controlled by whims of Vitalik and his one sentence can crash the whole market. However, all the alt coins go up and down along with the main movers - Bitcoin and Ethereum. Would it not make sense to diversify and put more in the rest of the market? So if blockchain succeeds you end up winning, but in the same time you aren't risking too much on a single project. What is the ideal distribution in your opinion? submitted by /u/AnythingForSuccess [link] [comments] Read More

Ark: To buy or not to buy?

I've been lurking reddit and some other crypto forums and there is a lot of talk about Ark. The pitch points I have read are that they want to bridge blockchain technology, have a great Dev team (however this is something that seems to be a pitch point for every coin?...) and that theres's an actual rocket scientist on the team lol, and that Ark seems to have healthy growth recently. I've looked at Ark's price charts and it does seem to be growing at a nice pace. Anyone with a good knowledge base on this coin want to chime in? If it is a good coin, am I too late? If its not a good coin, why not? Any help is appreciated, thanks! https://ark.io submitted by /u/Nutellarrhea [link] [comments] Read More

Urban Crypto Creates Ethereum Network 101 Series to Learn the Basics of the Network

Ethereum Network 101 As I began building Urban Crypto with the goal of collecting as much information in one place for users to learn about Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs), I realized how detailed and confusing the underworkings of the Ethereum Network are. If you are already knowledgeable and know the ins and outs of blockchain technology, more specifically that which applies to the Ethereum Network, then you probably do not need to continue reading. What is Ethereum Network 101? There are many of us who have heard of blockchain technology and this great ‘Ethereum’. If you are one of us, then a lot of the information provided across the web can be confusing. If you have become interested in Ethereum and its workings because you have heard of all the new ICOs coming out and the money being moved around, you may not understand the basic foundational elements of the network. My intention, through a series of posts that I am working on, which is labeled “Ethereum Network 101”, is to take

Best coins to invest in at the moment?

I've been using bitcoin since the days when it was £7/btc but never had the guts to invest. A lot of my friends have though in the past month and it seems they're making decent money so I think I'm ready to take the plunge. Which currencies would you recommend to someone looking to invest about £500? (these aren't my savings and can survive losing it all, so a medium or maybe even high level of risk is acceptable) So far I'm considering getting some ETC, ETH, Ripple, and Golem, but to be honest I've only just started researching these recently. As much as I'm fond of BTC since it brings me back I feel like the price is too high right now, although that is what I've always though and the reason I never invested so I might be wrong. submitted by /u/julmod- [link] [comments] Read More
