Crypto, VEN and GAAP (Accounting)

So awhile back VeChain Foundation (VEN) released their financial statement and it got me thinking about two questions. Has a cryptocurrency foundation ever released a financial statement to the public before? (i.e is there precedent?) Will there ever be something like GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) for crypto? Frankly I found it bizarre that they have committed to making a quarterly financial statement but what I found more bizarre was that I couldn't find any precedent of this. Anyone know of anything comparable? submitted by /u/Stockton_Slap209 [link] [comments] Read More

Time we see the Lite....

Just because Mcdonalds created fast food, does it mean A&W, and Burger king and others dont have a place at the table? Does Fords success mean Chevrolet has no use? Just because Apple is loved by many, does it mean Samsung, Lg, and others arent loved too? I see a lot of statements like Litecoin is just a 2nd rate Bitcoin, and theres no reason for Litecoin... I have to disagree wholeheartedly. Litecoin is incredibly fast, and transaction fees are extremely low, its been around a long time with a proven track record, it is one of the most stable, and tends to make steady progress in terms of value and technology advancement. Some argue that in time Bitcoin will solve its problems and then there wont be a need for Litecoin, but back to my point... since when does one brands success mean another isnt necessary? Sure we could all get by just fine using Apple the world over, but thats not how people work, and it isnt how culture works. People like having choice, and everyone is differen

Short term gainers?

Hi friends. So I’ve got a bit of vertcoin, and honestly I️ bought kind of high, not at an ath or anything but still higher than I️ should have, and I️ know that once I️ leave it I’ll realize my losses but I’m tired of holding vtc. I’ve already got all my long term holding coins, but with the little bit of cash I’m gonna move from vtc, I️ wanna put it in a coin that is a nice short term gainer. I’m thinking like a week. If you would be willing to share, if any of you have short term bets, I’d love to hear what coins you are thinking are good short term gainers, and why. If you don’t want to take the time to explain why, I’d still love to just hear the coin, and alternatively if you don’t want to share what your short term picks are but you’d be willing to share a little about what you look for in a potential short term gainer, I’d love to hear that. Thanks friends! Tl;DR what coins do you guys think are going to be the biggest short term gainers in say the next week, ignoring their lo

ATMchain?

What do you guys think of ATMchain? Not as a long term hold, but for some short term trading? They were incredibly flat in price for a while, but there’s some big spikes happening right now. Also, it’s made by a giant Chinese card company, and with the whole big deal about what crypto is ok in China and whatnot currently, I️ see maybe a chance to buy in on a dip and make some profit? What do y’all think. Also just to clarify I’m not commenting on the underlying stability or long term price of ATM chain, I️ absolutely have no plans to hodl it. submitted by /u/mellifluousmind [link] [comments] Read More

Guys your opinion is needed!!!

Guys your opinion is needed!!! I have a couple of hundred of BCCs right now. For almost 6 months I've been "hunting" ICOs and I have become very very good at it (made 470k in 3 months):). Now I believe I have "hunted" a BIG ICO http://ift.tt/2zNO7Xo that will start on 29 november (11 days from now). I really believe that after the ICO when it will be on the exchanges it will easily quadruple in the first 3 weeks, I've been doing this a very long time and I only invest in ICO that I research extensively and this one is a amazing project. But my question to you is should I sell 30% of my BCC now or will it rise more in the next week? what do you think? I want to invest heavily in this ICO http://ift.tt/2zNO7Xo but I want as many profit from my BCC:) Please let me now in the comment section, thank you fellow traders:) submitted by /u/cloucharddeluxe [link] [comments] Read More

Promoting ASIC Resistance in 2017 is like bragging to a car owner that your horse is faster than average – The case for the obsolescence of Proof of Work and why 2018 will be the year of Proof of Stake

Proof of work solves the Byzantine Generals problem, but it is expensive, inefficient, wasteful, and obsolete. Proof of Stake (PoS) v3 is an improvement for all of the problems listed below. Centralization Proof of Work (PoW) has always introduced points of centralization in the form of pools, electricity costs, and chip manufacturing. Pool centralization on PoW is so common it’s hardly reported on anymore. Vertcoin is above 51% , Zcoin is far above 51% , Zcash is above 51% , Dash has Antpool at 48% . This is from looking at only 6 altcoins, not cherrypicking, so I’m sure there’s a lot more out there with this problem. PoW relies on people voluntarily switching from large pools to avoid this risk, but clearly that does not work in practice. Even if you get below 51%, you’re still at risk of the two or three largest pools being able to work together for an attack. There’s more than enough money flying around to incentivize that type of action. Electricity costs have centralized mini

[Feedback] Website that shows which exchange is listing a coin

Now that my other projects in crypto world are close to complete and doing well, I am looking for another thing to do.   This time I would like to get your feedback on how useful it would be to have a site that is extremely simple, you type in a coin name/symbol and it shows you which exchange is actually listing it.   If you think this would be helpful please comment on what would on how this should work according to you and what features, if any you would like   submitted by /u/houseme [link] [comments] Read More

Dipping my toes into the Cryptocurrency markets

Hey all. So I'm not big time, money making, smarty pants. I'm an average guy working a full time job, paying my bills. As such, Ive only got 1k to play with. I have been mining bitcoin for a few months now (Ive only got like 400 dollars worth in my wallet) and I have finally finished the verification and such on Quadrigacx (I am Canadian). As such I only have Bitcoin, Etherum and Litecoin to play with. Can anyone give me any advice (and really, Ive only got 1k, so shilling me coins wont really do you any good) on what I should be putting my limited funds into? Either here or through a DM would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! submitted by /u/battlemech7 [link] [comments] Read More
