Which indicators to use?

I just stack MACD and Bollinger bands, also a friend recommended the Williams Vix Fix thing which has been useful, I think, but I was wondering if there was a good set of indicators to utilize every time you do TA or if it just depends on the coin itself. I haven't looked into RSI yet and I can't understand fibs to save my life so I stopped bothering. I wanted to know which indicators you guys personally preferred and employed. Also bonus question: How long did it take you to reach a point where you trusted your own technical analytical/chart-reading/signal-making judgement? submitted by /u/Bluebird [link] [comments] Read More

How could you make money with a futures contract?

I'm a bit lost how someone could make money with a futures contract. My understanding is that it could be used to protect against the price moving in the opposite direction as I hope based on my holding but wouldn't it simply offset any gains or losses in an equal amount. For example lets say I hold 10BTC and the current price is $10K/BTC. If I buy a futures contract that says I will sell 10 BTC for $10K/BTC and then the price goes to $11K/BTC then I make money on my holdings but lose it on the futures contract. What am I missing here? submitted by /u/Source98 [link] [comments] Read More

[Question] Good exchanges, alternatives to coinbase?

I used to use coinbase when i bought bitcoins in high school. I recently went to buy some an they asked me to re verify my id, which i did and they disabled my buying ability. Still waiting for support to respond, so i was wondering if there are any alternatives to coinbase. P.S I'm in the U.S. if that matters. Thanks in advanced. submitted by /u/Gtrsrlly [link] [comments] Read More

Futures and the price of BTC

I've been passively hearing a lot about how futures are going to come in (just a few days now). Does anyone want to speculate as to how they'll effect the btc price? From what I understand, it'll allow people to pump the price, then cash in with futures, then drop the price because of the power of their market share ("they" being wall street investors with a boat-ton of money to burn). Does this sound accurate? Am I missing something here? submitted by /u/TruckMcBadass [link] [comments] Read More

Looking for an old crypto market from 2012-2014 that I used to trade with back then.

Need advice on portfolio tracking.

So I started with Blockfolio on day 2 of my crypto trading, and got rid of it after a day because it was so slow, and Delta had a simpler UI. After a few weeks of trading my Delta is so messed up in terms of how much I actually have invested and how much I have gained. Part of that is my fault, but part of that is the APPs inconsistent tracking. For example, I have 0 Litecoin right now, but it says I have -0.0000000000. At this point, if I were to restart the app, or move back to blockfolio I would never be able to, or at least I wouldn't want to, redo every transaction I've made. Does anyone have any advice on how to restart my tracking? I have the amount I've put in, the coins I have and the amount, and even the earnings as to date. submitted by /u/buggawolf [link] [comments] Read More

NiceHash mining service hacked - Possible large-scale theft of BTC

Hi All, While this isn't a mining subreddit, this event may (or may not) have repercussions on the greater community. For all those miners out there that were using NiceHash, their site has been hacked, and funds have been stolen. Some unofficial reports say 60M+ worth of bitcoin. Here's the official twitter page, with the post. Twitter I personally had about 30$ worth of in the NH wallet, so I haven't lost much... I was mining to their pools, but using my own front end (MultiPoolMiner). Stay safe out there. submitted by /u/Fruit_Face [link] [comments] Read More

Is there a crypto market that lets you set multiple conditional sales for a low stop-loss and a high target sell?

Been using bittrex, but if you have a conditional sale scheduled you can't schedule another one, so you have to risk either missing a peak or a drop; would like to find a market were you can set multiple conditional sales with the same funds, anyone know of a market that offers this or an easy way to rig this up at bittrex? Thoughts on BURST?

I'm always scouting and researching low market cap coins (<30.000.000) to complement my large cap portfolio. I like coins with a strong concept and active community. This has led me to ANT (now NEO), VTC and QRL in the past. Recently stumbled onto BURST, which looks very promising. Gave me that VTC feel. I know it was the victim of an attack a while back which it (apparently) recovered from quite successfully. Other than that it looks very interesting. I'm eager to hear opinions regarding this coin. Hidden gem or no? I don't like to ask these questions in the coins subreddit because they are always quite shilly. submitted by /u/malchiahddit [link] [comments] Read More

#212 Adam Perlow & Asher Manning: Zen Protocol - A Decentralized Financial System

We were joined by Founder Adam Perlow and Developer Asher Manning of Zen, a public blockchain project focused on building a decentralized financial system. The core premise of Zen is that none of the public blockchain networks are focused on financial asset. Zen is aiming to fill that gap through a Bitcoin-like UTXO architecture that supports multiple asset and smart contracts to enforce complex ownership rules. We talked through their original design choices, their use of formal verification, connection to Bitcoin and vision for a fully decentralized financial system. Topics discussed in this episode: Why existing public blockchains are ill-suited for financial instruments Why Zen chose to use a Bitcoin-like UTXO architecture How Zen uses formal verification to allow smart contracts without a virtual machine or needing gas How the Active Contract Set reduces the burden on the miners Walking through creating, trading and settling a call option on Zen How Zen allows payments to

HealthTRUST+ (Medical ICO) - run by physicians. General opinions??

I found this ICO recently on bitcointalk and it looks like the real deal. I lost money in PTOY and happened to come across this one. I found this post online and thought this would be a good place to share it. The team looks REALLY good. Actual doctors in charge of a healthcare related ICO, unlike Patientory. Their goals don't seem too farfetched either. Here is the post: HealthTRUST+ is a blockchain based platform that will revolutionize the healthcare industry by securing all patient health information. Over $6.2 billion is spent by hospital organizations every year to combat the stolen patient health information and other privacy data that is stolen by cyber attackers. HealthTRUST+ aims to reduce that expenditure by over 90% and save hospitals billions of dollars a year. We believe hospitals will favor our EMR system over the current system as ours will provide extra security with the addition of blockchain technology to existing security measures. HealthTRUST+ has 4 goals:

So even assuming 99% of the all new futures contracts are SHORT positions.... This will do absolutely nothing to the price of Bitcoin. Rihht?

Usually a short position involves actually selling an actual bitcoin on the public market, which lowers the price. Futures contracts never touch the underlying asset and do absolutely nothing to the actual price on the coin. A trader could open a $100 billion "short" position on a futures contract and have 0.00 impact on the price. Corect me if I'm wrong. submitted by /u/GabeNewell_ [link] [comments] Read More

If you went all-in on a crypto or two, what would you choose and why?

Just curious what people would all-in on at this current point in time. IOTA is skyrocketing for example. What coin would you go all-in on, and why would you? I'm looking to buy a crypto or two and been really stuck on what to buy. I don't want to water down my portfolio and have like 8+ cryptos. I'd rather have 1 or 2 and let it grow a lot if they have potential. I've been thinking, so far, IOTA and BTG. Reasons is I hope to see BTG have a quick growth like BCH did, and IOTA is something I have been following for a while and with their recent partnerships increasing the coin's value tremendously, it looks like they know how to succeed and I feel like they will continue doing so. submitted by /u/Quinquangular [link] [comments] Read More

Is there a goddamn good exchange out there for a Canadian that wants to trade often??

I just want to trade between BTC/ETH/LTC/XMR/ETC/ZEC and USD. Kraken - what I've been using and you have to submit an order 12 times before 1 goes through. People always complain on here and Kraken employees say submit a support ticket but your whole platform is buggy. Quadriga - high fees to trade often but I use to initially convert fiat Coinsquare - i know nothing about Bittrex - uses Tether instead of holding USD right? Forget that if that is the case. Poloniex - Tether aswell, right? Bitfinex - considered trying and have signed up but haven't used yet. What are the prices on the Coinbase dashboard referring to?

Hi all, When I log in to CB, it has those values at the top for Bitcoin, Ether and Litecoin. I'm in the UK so I've set everything to Euros. So if you look at those values, it says: 1 Ether coin is worth €383.97. So what does this mean? I assumed this is the price at which I can buy an Ether coin on CB? But it doesn't seem to be true, as when I tried to buy one, it actually bought it at the rate of €395.58. Which is the price of Ether on GDAX. So if I am buying and selling Ether at the rate on GDAX, what is the purpose of the values on my dashboard on CB? submitted by /u/claret_n_blue [link] [comments] Read More

Newcomer to crytopcurrency trading. Questions regarding "pumping and dumping" money into currencies.

Hi I’m new to the concept of cryptocurrency trading and find it very interesting. I’m in the process of doing as much research as I can. I had a couple of questions when it comes to trading cryptocurrencies. What interests me is investing some money in lesser known up and coming cryptocurrencies Which of course comes with a lot of risks. For example; FedoraCoin. It's worth 0,0001 US Dollars at the moment and the value has been going up 1000% in the last 24 hours. Now I was wondering if it would actually work if you would "pump and dump" your money in a coin like this. What is the catch? Let’s say the FedoraCoin you invested 1000 dollars in, increases in value with 500% in an hour. It seems to me that a lot of people would wanna sell their FedoraCoin for dollars or Bitcoins. The main issue I see here is when you sell it on a site like Bittrex, that it takes very long because a lot of people are selling their FedoraCoin. Wouldn’t there be so many sells that the website c
