Recommendation: Be very careful when deciding which email address to use when registering at an exchange, details inside.

This last week has been extremely stressful for me. Exactly 7 days ago, I stopped receiving withdrawal confirmation emails from liqui exchange. At first I figured it was a minor outage in their email system, but after a few days full blown panic set in. Because there were no other reports of this, I thought it might be selective scamming. My email is on a custom domain that I own to look more professional, as is common among techies. I simply have it set up to forward to my gmail, and also have the ability to send-mail-as through my gmail as well. I have never had a problem with it before. Apparently (and not too surprisingly) some registrars run spam filtering on their mail server before forwarding the message along. Because I had received many withdrawal confirmation emails in the past, and they all look very, very similar, it must have been flagged as spam, because they stopped coming through. This morning, the same thing happened to emails from another exchange as well. I had b

Updated Portfolio help/suggestions/thoughts?

Hello All, This is my new throw away crypto account. Wanted to know some suggestions on my current portfolio. LTC: 40% QTUM: 35% OMG: 20% ARK/LSK: 5% I don't have a lot of money. But I wanted to diversify a bit. In the future (next pay check) I plan to add about $300 to ETH. Also, I'm that bad NEO trader who bought at 40, sold at 18. then, bought again at 33, to sell at 23 :) I'm doing the peoples service and I hope my reddit name fits ;) submitted by /u/WeakHands_Trader [link] [comments] Read More

Thoughts on which cryptos become more useful in a climate where government regulation may increase.

It seems like various forms of government regulation are popping up around the world. Curious which cryptos you all think will do better in a climate of increasing regulation. For example, I've been following 0xProject pretty closely (haven't pulled the trigger on buying any yet) because of it's potential to help decentralize token exchange. What are some others that you think will become particularly useful if regulation (or the threat of it) continues? submitted by /u/adametrnal [link] [comments] Read More

Crypto FB Group Fraud (X-post from /r/cryptocurrency)

I'd like to share my experience with the Facebook group, "Cryptocurrency investing" and a man who's FB name is Jonny Waffles. I have been commenting for the past week or so in this group and met some interesting people. Today, Jonny made a post talking about how "it is clear" that BitPetite.com is the best way to do loans, has the highest interest returns, and is a much better option than BitConnect. I invest in both platforms, and I find that I actually get better returns on BitConnect because I am able to compound interest in $10 increments everyday. Jonny Waffles' closing writing in his post was an offer to split the referral 50/50 if someone signed up with his referral link. I sighed. I replied to his post explaining how I can make more money compounding interest on BitConnect, and he BANNED me from the group and deleted my post!!! I was enjoying a sense of community in a FB crypto-currency group and next thing I know, their admin is just trying to

No-nonsense crypto price alerts chat room?

Before getting into crypto I started getting into penny stocks market and subscribed to Tim Sykes' services for a couple months. I learned a lot from his content, but the most valuable component was a members only chat room where day trading students like myself would share interesting market action we were seeing in real time. The room was heavily moderated and no discussion was allowed. Only alerts of current price action for active day traders. Every line was a ticker, a price, and what it was doing that was interesting with links to any relevant news. These were not "stock picks" and no one was blindly buying them (I hope), just a way of taking advantage of the thousands of other eyes looking at the same market as you at a given moment. Since switching over to crypto I've never found a replacement for this room. Is there something like this out there? submitted by /u/gentos [link] [comments] Read More

Tips for using MEW safely

Sorry for this post, but I think a lot of newbies are confused, like myself. I am unsure of how to store my coins. I am tempted to use MEW, but the irony of losing my coins in the process (rather than just leaving them on an exchange) would kill me, lol. I watched some Youtube tutorials. Seems straight forward enough, but what about that JSON file being downloaded onto the computer? Isn't that risky? Any tips on how to store the different keys and codes? Should i just do the paper wallet option? Is phishing the only major risk (other than losing my codes)? If phishing is the only major risk, it doesn't seem too bad - just have to be careful of the site I am on. Thanks for any tips from your experience. Much appreciated. submitted by /u/SillySausage87 [link] [comments] Read More

China Planning a War Against Cryptocurrency Trades

A week before ago Central bank banned ICO, and now, Chinese news reports another tough decision from local authorities – to close cryptocurrency exchanges in China. A punch in the face for cryptocurrencies The reports about a possible war against cryptocurrency exchanges in China have driven popular cryptocurrencies down. On September 8, when local news media outlet Caixin reported about the closure of trades and exchanges between virtual currency and fiat in China, the Bitcoin price fell sharply from around $4,600 to $4,100. NEO CHINA AGREEMENT - 100 FREE GAS Tokens per coin for next 24 hours

In the name of fairness I am here to announce that The NEO Team has finalized an agreement with China for NEO to be traded in China and used as the only token platform for regulated ICO's in CHINA. Press release will be in 72 hours but part of the agreement is that we have to make an emergency protocol where all NEO holders as of now and for the next 12 hours will be given 100 FREE GAS Tokens for every NEO that they hold. This is something China wanted to implement so that GAS can be used as a legal way to power securities through the NEO platform. So we have amped up the amount of GAS for each stake but first in 7 days China and NEO will have the platform backdate a GAS payment. So all that have NEO in their account from about an hour ago and for the next 12 hours will be getting 100 GAS for each NEO they hold. It is only fair to let the community know this rather than you be told after the fact. We are not allowed to say what we think NEO or GAS will be worth in fiat but it is f

China has ordered local authorities to shut down virtual exchanges trading digital currencies with the yuan - Legit Source

This is actually one of my first posts in Reddit but I've been seeing the confusion and since I lived in China for 8 years and my old assistant is there I WhatsApp'd her to ask her to find the truth. Don't know if I have enough Karma or days on my Reddit account to post this but here's a try to share this info. Basically they are according to her shutting all exchanges, but didn't ban all transactions. Therefore people can still exchange privately. Article is in both Chinese and English and very legit: http://ift.tt/2vLnWvO Excerpts: "“It means platforms facilitating trading between virtual currencies and legal tenders will not be allowed in China,” the source said. But the source added that the crackdown targets unauthorized trading at virtual currency exchanges, rather than Bitcoin and the underlying blockchain technology." "The digital currency trading platform Guojiaowan said Friday afternoon that all digital coin trading on its platform has
