What are the causes behind sudden fluctuations like this?

This question is specifically about Antshares. There were a couple crazy fluctuations in the past several minutes where it dipped really low, came back to where it was two minutes later, then the next minute opened at the low again. I'm familiar with arbitrage playing a factor, but I would have guessed this wouldn't be as much of an issue for Antshares being as it's only on two exchanges (unless I'm mistaken). Is it still to blame, or is there something else at play that I'm not aware of? submitted by /u/Lunchables [link] [comments] Read More

*PSA-Kraken not crediting 1 month old deposit*

Hi, this is a PSA/warning about Kraken that I wish I had gotten a month ago: DO NOT SEND THEM FIAT! I sent a USD Wire to Kraken. Their website claims 1-5 Business days it has been 15! After 7 business days I submitted a ticket. Three days later I got a canned response that my issue would be forwarded. I replied 4 hours later that I would go public in three more business days, it has been 6 days and no answer. Sorry I didn't warn all of you sooner! PLEASE Stay away from KRAKEN!!! June 8th, 12pm PST I wired Kraken a USD deposit June 19th , I opened a Ticket. June 22nd, Linnea from Kraken 'Client Engagement' replied saying: "Hello, I apologize for the delay in reviewing your issue. I have assigned your ticket to the correct team and they will respond to your request as soon as possible. Regards, Linnea Client Engagement." 4 hours later I responded informing her that if the money wasn't there by the 26th I would take my customer experience public.

Bitcoin Price Analysis Double Bottom Reversal Chases Out the Bears

In our previous BTC-USD analysis, there was a fear of a massive Head and Shoulders pattern that had very low price projections for the entire crypto market. In a turn of events, when BTC-USD made its test of the Head and Shoulders neckline, it actually responded in a market reversal.Figure 1 BTC-USD, 6-hr Candles, GDAX, Head and Shoulders RejectionYesterday, the crypto market took a turn upward as the market leader made a Double Bottom Reversal pattern that sent a market-wide bear run into an

SMS alerts with custom strategy?

Does anyone know of an app or trading platform that will allow you to set up custom SMS alerts? I have a trading strategy that I'd like to try out involving volume, MACD, and Bollinger Bands, but I also have a 1 year old daughter, which means I can't be in front of the computer all the time. Alerts would really help let me know when to trade. I know that tradingview.com will allow custom sms alerts, but you have to pay $60/month, which is a bit much to get some text messages (my phone plan costs less!). Are there any other sites that would let me set up what I needed to do? submitted by /u/MurrayTheMonster [link] [comments] Read More

Can someone please help me understand closing margin positions?

My question revolves around how profit is returned to you when closing a position. If I margin buy eth using eth as collateral I have borrowed btc and used it to buy eth. If the price then goes up and I close my position what happens? I can think of two different things. Your debt is paid by taking enough eth to pay back your btc debt (including transaction fees) and the remaining eth is returned to the account where your collateral is as profit. Your whole position is closed by trading all of your eth (not collateral) for btc. Your debt is then paid from that amount and the rest is returned to you as profit in eth. This would mean that you've paid transaction fees twice to convert eth to btc and then back to eth so that it matches your collateral currency. Also, what happens if you close most of your position such that your whole debt is paid? E.g If you have a position of 1 eth and the price has moved so that 25% of that is profit. What will happen if you create a marg

Ether Ends Rally, Dash Back in Range

Everything is back in a range this week, as both Ether and Dash are waiting for the next move. We also provide a short BTC update at the end of this article. Ether Ends Rally Ether prices continued the slow downtrend versus bitcoin. This has led to ETH/BTC finally ending the rally that started last month. We are currently quoted at 0.11927 BTC per 1 Ether, down from 0.1359 BTC two weeks ago. This is a decline of just above 13 percent. Holiday Weekend Price Drop?

There seems to be a theory that there are mass sell-offs during holiday weekends in the crypto sphere? I was curious, is there any quantitative evidence of this? I do remember my portfolio taking a beating Memorial Day weekend, but that's not exactly quantitative. I would find it odd that an American holiday would have such an effect on what is a global 24/7 market. Considering going all Fiat where I can this weekend. submitted by /u/InvisibleWindows [link] [comments] Read More

do you guys/where can you crypto trade mostly against USDT?

Being #noob to trading in general, but having had about a month experience by now, i still get a head ache keeping up with the conversions between cryptos and the uSD value Since the majority of news, YT videos, and discussions talk about cryptos in their USD Value, i was thinking of trading cryptos with USDT exclusively. That will vastly simplify things for me and keep me from getting confused... Like right now, i got eth and ans on the major dip, and very happy about it.. But now things are getting tested, and i feel there will be a slight dip in the next few hours.. and i wanted to capitalize and convert all to USDT for now and jump back in at slight dip or so. (basically trying to increase my coins inch by inch safely) This way im only dealing with USD valuation of cryptos which is much much easier to read and follow for me. Is this a common trading style? or am I alone on this one? PS im on bittrex now, and my altcoins cant be converted to USDT :( I'm afraid of poloniax

Analysing order depth charts

Just a question upon looking at the order depth charts. Fe ETH/BTC, does that mean that on the left we can view the ETH asks for a specific amount, and on the right who wants to sell their Ethers for BTC towards that specific marketrange? Large walls on the right can indicate a price stagnation or drop? Or what conclusions can be made upon looking at these charts. fe: http://ift.tt/2toCV09 a lot of sells on BTC and few buys on ETH, does that indicate a drop or how to interpret? submitted by /u/MasterJ09 [link] [comments] Read More

$500 Portfolio

I am looking to create a cryptocurrency portfolio. My dad “gave” me $500 to invest. The money will be used for college down the road. I will keep it for about 3 years (when I go to college). I don’t want a ton of risk so I was thinking about mostly ethereum, some bitcoin, and random alt coins. I’ve heard NEM is promising. I want to double the money, not sure if that is reasonable but the way bitcoin moves it could I guess. I need help figuring out how much I should invest in each coin. Maybe 20% could be dedicated to mildly risky stuff? Thanks submitted by /u/RevolutionIsMessy [link] [comments] Read More
