Where to safely hold USD while waiting for correction to buy back in?

Hey all, I'm really struggling to figure this one out. In anticipation for a correction soon i'm considering putting stops on a few of my investments but when they convert to USD i'm not confident holding them in the exchange for between a week and a month is a good idea... Maybe i'm wrong and it is okay? Is there a more suitable option to transfer the USD to somewhere secure? I dont have a USD bank account and dont want to cash out into AUD due to capital gains tax. Any ideas? Cheers. submitted by /u/juggernaut16 [link] [comments] Read More

Institution’s Guide to Bitcoin Price Manipulation

Buy Bitcoin, driving up prices to create a sense of euphoria Short futures (by borrowing contracts to sell into the futures market, thereby raising a ton of cash) Spread FUD to reduce Bitcoin Prices Use raised cash in Step 2 to buy more Bitcoin on the dips Cover short position on futures contracts before or on expiration date – hoping that enough FUD was spread around for price suppression to yield YUUGE profits Use YUUGE profits to repeat Step 1 and whole cycle again We’ve been warned. Bug Report: Interstellar Holdings Wallet

I thought it would cute to find a new PoS coin and pounce on it to get stake rewards. Little did I know the coin has all kinds of bugs and little attention to them, including the one I suffered from: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHbRXQD5Las Welp, I bought 54,000 coins, sent 4k to the wallet address. Saw it was broken and saw all the bug reports in the channel. So I liquidated the rest for a loss and good bye to this coin. So much for fast easy profits like the 500% PoS rewards for the first year. submitted by /u/metaperl [link] [comments] Read More

WARNING: Do not use the Coinigy app if you value your money

I placed an order during a pump of a coin, I then cancelled it. I got an email 3 hours later saying my trade went through (3 hours later), which means I payed way over for some coins 3 hours after a pump, which was a canceled order. I know it's still in beta, but I would not use, never again after that. submitted by /u/fuckurprivacy [link] [comments] Read More

WARNING! do not trade or invest in NYCoin!

The creators of NYcoin link potential investors directly to an illiquid pair NYC/BTC. This pair is being bought up frequently so many are getting caught in the same trap. i recently started directing my BTC profits to other altcoins, I researched NYCoin which looked catchy... i got fooled into being directly linked from their website to the NYC/BTC pair on YoBIT So i spent 0.02BTC (300ish USD) on an initial investment, only to realize then it was completely illiquid. However if you dig around, you will find a liquid pair (nyc/USD) which is not linked to their website but i suppose allows the victims to get out. My initial investment of $300worth of BTC was instantly worth $30USD of NYC, if i were to liquidate. Ive contacted the creators, and the guy running the site is completely dancing around the problem and trying to convince me to invest more before its too late, typical con artist move this is a trap, i was fooled, many are still being fooled. DO NOT BUY or support NYCoin. su

Please stop encouraging people to speculatively invest in cryptos without first helping them have a base understanding of how they works, why their utility is valuable, and how to research the market.

The amount of posts on coin trading/market subs from brand new users proudly boasting their first purchases, and subsequently asking how to sell because they lost money is absurd. HODL is not a helpful response when they've blindly invested at an unusually volatile time in the market. Not all cryptos will have an uptick in a time frame that is acceptable for them, since they dumped in money they couldn't afford to lose because they expected a massive, quick ROI. As enthusiasts who have done the research, made the mistakes, and understand why a respective coin's tech will or won't flourish, it is incumbent that we help people see the cypto space as more than a store of value. submitted by /u/skramzy [link] [comments] Read More

How do I have the "fees" section of my trades on cointracking.info actually subtract that amount from my portfolio.

For example, I bought 102 IOTA and the fee was 0.102 IOTA which gave me a total of 101.898. Yet cointracking.info displays that I have 102 IOTA in holdings. Is there any way to change this to show the correct amount? Over time this will create a larger and larger discrepancy between my portfolio and my actual holdings. I am seriously debating cashing out some alts before a market correction - as there must be one coming with futures to be approved and the insane gains and media blitz we are seeing for bitcoin at the moment. Can we win against institutional investors?

So, I’ve been telling people since CME announced the bitcoin futures market that institutional investors will short BTC for massive profits. it makes sense that they would and it’s 100% what I would do if I wanted to make the most money possible. Of course it requires more capital than 99% of us can ever afford. It’s simple really: Buy a ton of btc and hike the price up to new ATH”s. When the futures market opens, short btc at its all time high. Dump all btc holdings causing a flash crash. Close short positions with huge profit. Rebuy cheap btc with all that profit. Rinse, wash, repeat? It seems I’m not the only one who see’s this writing on the wall. In fact it seems the idea is catching on pretty quick which is awesome as it gives people a chance to alter their strategies so as to navigate this possibility.. Now, with that said, at what point do we reach.a critical mass of people who plan to act on this? Does game theory kick in and the bankers instead just buy futures contract

How/when to get in now with a bigger investment?

So right now im holding some alts (XRP, LTX and IOTA) and a few BTC. I'm looking for the longer term value of the coins, but im not sure how to get in now with a bigger investment. So I also believe that something will happen on the weekend and I'm not sure if and how to get in. Should I invest before the weekend, trade to alts and wait for it to blow over or should I get in on Monday or Tuesday, when BTC may already dropped? I read about a big number of unapproved transactions, how long could it take to get my transaction through? My goal is to get the alts as quickly as possible without losing that much in the process. I will also diversify to many different altcoins, I'm just not 100% sure on how to split them and what alts I will take. I'm still pretty new to Cryptos and am tryying to understand all the aspects, i would appreciate all help :) submitted by /u/beatpeet42 [link] [comments] Read More

GDAX moving to "post only", how can this possibly work?

When GDAX experienced perfs issue (during the spike to 19600 USD or so) they said they were restricting trading and only allowing "post only" orders. So everybody becomes a maker. If everybody is a maker, there are no takers. How then does any transaction even get executed then if there are only makers? Did any transaction happen during that temporary restriction to "post only" and, if so, who are the takers? To me this makes no sense at all whatsoever. submitted by /u/ceinguy [link] [comments] Read More
