What's your prediction on how the bigger altcoins (ETH, LTC) will react after the fork for the rest of the year?

I know nobody has a crystal ball, but for those who have been following crypto for awhile and have experienced the previous forks what do think will likely happen? submitted by /u/ParanoidPeacock [link] [comments] Read More

GAS sent to Bittrex account?

So I received a donation today to my Neo wallet. Unfortunately I didn't state that my Neo address is a bittrex address and the person who donated to me sent GAS. Does anyone have any experience with this? Any help would be appreciated, support has already been emailed but figured I'd ask the community. TLDR; Received GAS to a bittrex Neo address. Is it lost? submitted by /u/Rufio-1408 [link] [comments] Read More

Looking for advice about what to do with my Bitcoin holdings with the fork approaching?

I'm new to crypto and am currently holding a small amount of Bitcoin. My current plan is to exchange my Bitcoin for Ethereum next week because I've been wanting to buy and hold some ETH anyways and then after the fork I will cost average buying more Bitcoin every week over a 2 month period and hold for the longterm. Looking at maybe buying a small amount of Litecoin to hold as well. Any advice would be appreciated. submitted by /u/HippoHorse [link] [comments] Read More

November BTC Fork - The Facts

With less than a dozen days left before the SegWit2X fork, I thought I'd start gathering some facts before I start forming personal opinions and speculative conclusions. I refer to the SegWit1X chain as 1X and the SegWit2X chain as 2X for simplicity, and I have looked for very simple facts and safe assumptions. Here are the dots that I gathered:   Fork at Block 494,784 . Approximate date = 16th of November .   The New York Agreement: The NYA involved parties representing about 83% of the then hashing power who all agreed to both hardforks - one for SegWit and another for an increased block size of 2MB (2X) within 6 months of the former. Further details in reference 1.   It is safe to assume that miners will only mine the most profitable chain (possibly several chains in differing proportions).   If whales pump a single chain it will gain more value. If this happens, miners will be more inclined to mine that particular chain only. This will result in the other chain(s)potentia

Where to drop $ at this time, BTC, or Certain Alt?

Ready to wire $ into GDAX, should I buy BTC or should I drop it into ETH, or ZEC, perhaps another Alt, wait wait drop the BTC to drop, then After SegWitX2, move the Alt buy of today into BTC? I’m open to hear others strategies. submitted by /u/Data_Geek [link] [comments] Read More

Question about bitfinex: Why are losses so high when margin trading in bitcoin pairs???

My God, it has no justification... it seems minimum loss is .01 BTC when margin trading in BTC, it doesn't matter if you were staking .0001 BTC and the market moved against you by 1% (!). I lost more than half my bitcoin thanks to this feature!!! Why is that??? What's the justification for it??? Can someone help me?! I opened a ticket to at least get an explanation, but they haven't answered yet. If you trade in USD pairs, losses are proportional and reasonable. I didn't find out about this until it was too late. :S submitted by /u/jameswlf [link] [comments] Read More

[HELP] Withdrawing BTC from unverified Bittrex account

Hi guys, I am new to the crypto trading scene & currently have 2.5 BTC in my Bittrex account. Upon attempting to withdraw the BTC from Bittrex to my Ledger Nano S, I was told to get verified first. I submitted a scan of my passport, but Bittrex rejected it and gave me a "Name Mismatch" error message. I'm guessing this is because my passport uses the Last Name---First Name format (which is the convention in my country), and it didn't line up with my First Name---Last Name entered on Bittrex's registration page. Naturally, I submitted a support ticket but it's been over a week and I have yet to get a response. I did not submit a second/duplicate ticket, because the support site specifically warned against doing that. I am generally a patient person, but I feel this is getting ridiculous. My question is this: Would it be possible for me to "sell" the BTC to a friend with a fully verified account, who can then withdraw it? E.g. creating a specif

A detailed analysis by Forbes about the up-coming bitcoin hard fork - IMO a very unstable situation and I don't know if this is the right time to invest in any alts before the fork (except BCH). Your opinions in the comment section will be appreciated.
