forgive my ignorance, but where is the money coming from?

so i understand that people can buy bitcoin via coinbase. they send in their USD and get bitcoins. then there are others that mine their bitcoins. they are rewarded these coins but no USD have been put into the exchange. so now, this means there may be more coins than USD to support it when you want to cash out. isnt this the definition of a ponzi scheme? where is the money - actually fiat to spend on every day goods - coming from when the price of bitcoin explodes? submitted by /u/movdev [link] [comments] Read More

Is GNT dead?

I remembering buying into GNT when it was about $0.42 USD or so. I read online that it was supposed to be the "revolutionary coin" and "game changer." I hodled for a while and then it went up to to about $0.70 USD and I was ready to sell but couldn't because I didn't have any ethereum in my Ether Wallet :[ Well now it seems like golem is dying out with no chance to return... what do you guys all think? It's either hodl the 50% or so of what I originally had or cut the losses from here. It seems like the general opinion is that GNT is done for. submitted by /u/Blekpill [link] [comments] Read More

Hacked.com did a great analysis of the ClearPoll ICO

I'm one of the Directors of ClearPoll. Hacked.com did a great objective (and unpaid) analysis for our ICO. I am happy to answer the questions that they mentioned were unanswered. Full , unedited Analysis from Hacked.com: ClearPoll is offering a decentralized solution that makes it possible for the general public to vote securely and have their votes safeguarded on the blockchain without fear of having their opinion censored or misrepresented in any way. The ClearPoll concept is centered on the fact that many times today the media manipulates and misrepresents public opinion recorded through polls in a bid to get it to suit its own interests or those of other parties involved. This is at times done in order to support specific agendas or to create sensational headlines. There are numerous examples of situations in which the alleged prevailing public opinion polls on sensitive topics and the actual outcome on the ground ended up showing huge disparities for which no one can reall

What would it take for you to invest in an ICO?

Assuming in theory the idea behind an ICO is an excellent, but there is no actually product or service. What if someone like Tim Draper endorsed it, not just a random celebrity? What would you want to see on the white paper? What would it take for you to feel comfortable that the ICO you are investing in is not a scam? I am collecting data currently and would greatly appreciate all your help. submitted by /u/RabbitMann101 [link] [comments] Read More

Op Ed Lessons From a Cryptocurrency Hack A Public Service Announcement

Cryptocurrency-related cyber attacks are on the rise. As cryptocurrency continues to explode in value and public awareness, we can only expect this trend to continue. I was recently the target of such an attack. I also personally know of multiple other cases of the same attack being successfully carried out. Even worse, this type of attack is becoming ever more common and is likely to see an even bigger boost thanks to the professional excellence of firms like Equifax, making it an urgent top

Why EDG is Undervalued: The Hype Train, The Drop, The Gambling License, and More

Why Edgeless is a Marketable, Unique, and Profitable Idea : Most of what I’m going to write here will be directly copied and pasted from the team’s white page which I encourage you to read yourself. The online gambling industry was valued at USD 45.86 billion in 2016. However it has two major problems: the price of the gamble and transparency. Edgeless wants to be a decentralized online casino that wants to implement complete transparency, no fees for withdrawing or depositing, and most importantly, the casino will have 0% house edge. The casino will profit through player mistakes and imperfect play and the concept of gambler’s ruin and variance. The Hype Train : So let’s begin with the hype train that caused EDG to become inflated that set the stage for a more than 40% decrease in value. EDG gained the majority if its recognition from the cryptocurrency community through an article on steemit titled: “The Next Rockets? Most Interesting tokens in TOP 100 market cap” and an article fr

A name for this type of trading strategy?

For the past few months, I've been slowly building my stake in VTC and BTC (and other coins through BTC) by trading the fairly reliable wave between .00016ish to .00021ish VTC-BTC once or twice per week but sometimes as often as multiple times per day. That party might be over (no complaints!) as VTC has risen, so as I look for the next similar opportunity, I can't imagine I'm the first to use this slow-growth strategy. Has it been formalized or given a name? Or is it just another/common method of day-trading? TL;DR Is there terminology (which might lead me to resources) for the strategy of finding a solid or promising coin (or stock, I suppose) and trading the repeated fluctuation between two price ranges? RSI alerts?

As probably most of you I use tradingview for charting and making trade decisions. The site has an alert feature which can send you an email (or a text if you pay for pro) if certain requirements are met. I think it would be really handy to be able to receive notifications based on RSI levels (e.g. when it dips below 30 or rises above 70). Does anyone know if there is a way to do that? You can even script your own indicators, so I'd imagine there is a way, unfortunately I couldn't figure it out myself. Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/Crito4C [link] [comments] Read More
