How to use/apply leverage, realistically?

After reading a shear number of articles on leverage, I get the concept behind leverage - i.e. that you borrow money from the broker to make a trade, but not sure on how would one use it realistically. Leverage makes sense when you want to make a trade and you don't have the money but how is it used? If I buy with leverage, do I need to sell with the same amount of leverage to close a trade? Considering the following examples: Example 1: Buying (without leverage) *- Balance: 1000 eur *- Current ETH/EUR rate: 237.1 *- Trading without leverage: 1000/237.1 = 4.218 ETH Selling (without leverage) - Balance: 4.218 ETH *- Current ETH/EUR rate: 237.3 *- Trading without leverage: 237.3 4.218 = 1000.9314 EUR PROFIT: 0.9314 EUR Example 2: Buying (5:1 leverage) - Balance: 1000 eur *- Current ETH/EUR rate: 237.1 *- Trading with 5:1 leverage: (1000 5)/237.1 = 21.088 ETH Selling (no leverage) - Balance: 21.088 ETH *- Current ETH/EUR rate: 237.3 *- Trading without leverage: 237.3 4.218

What does the future have in store for 2Give ?

Seems like an interesting concept, (it streamlines donations to charities to cut out the middlemen and bureaucracy) and it's been very volatile lately, I've been buying and selling a little on small swings.I'd like to know more since it seems like a great concept with very little attention being payed to it. Any thoughts ? submitted by /u/fantaman1992 [link] [comments] Read More

Is there an S&P 500 for Crypto?

It troubles me that the entire crypto market is measured by a single Cryptocurrency (BTC). it is ironic and unacceptable that the market for decentralized currencies has developed an implicit single point of failure. The S&P 500 is regarded as one of the best for the stock market but has flaws when translated into the world of crypto. I am interested in the development of Decentralized Cryptocurrency Indexes. Whats the deal with Poloniex ??

I don't get why people keep saying Polo is much better than Bittrex, which I have been using. Honestly, Polo has nice web design, and you can do margin trading on it too, it's faster than Bittrex as well. I have been using Bittrex in the past couple months, after trying polo I think polo really sucks. Once the funds got transferred to Polo account its fking trapped by 2000 dollar limit. It's been weeks since I submit my info for the 7000 dollar limit approval ! I think I am gonna stick with Bittrex or maybe try other platform, but never polo again. Bittrex may have a cheap web interface design, but there are practical tools for people to use and make better informed decision. Whereas polo, I don't know whats the deal behind that fancier web page. submitted by /u/kvist [link] [comments] Read More
