Beginner needs safe process for altcoin buy and hodl

I want to buy and hold a small amount of several altcoins. In my paranoid mind I feel like the only safe way is:
* Download all the software to generate wallets for 10 different altcoins
* Boot a PC into a Linux LiveCD with no network connection and generate 10 wallets
* Copy the public addresses to a blank thumb drive
* Copy the seeds/private keys into a TrueCrypt/VeraCrypt encrypted container on several thumb drives to be safely stored somewhere, and keep the encryption key somewhere else safe
* Use the public addresses on a normal Internet connected PC to purchase BTC or LTC and transfer to the 10 altcoins
* Transfer all 10 holdings into my public addresses stored on the thumb drive
* Hodl

But this sounds like a lot of trouble. Is it safe to boot a LiveCD and run a wallet like Jaxx or Exodus and make live trades? Keep the wallets on a thumbdrive and back it up several times?
