I've been buying on small dips and so far it's been working alright, but...

So far I've been buying bitcoin on small dips and holding and I'm up around 5k, but had I of just bought one bitcoin straight up, I'd be up 10k. Should I continue buying small installments, or wire transfer money to an exchange and buy a full coin next time we have a small dip?
