Why are alt coins heavily affected by bitcoin dumping

I understand that during a pump alot of people holding coins other than btc move their funds to it because of fomo, but why does bitcoin dumping also cause alt coins to go down, it doesn't make sense to me why does every coin bow to this pile of shit.
