What are the prices on the Coinbase dashboard referring to?

Hi all,

When I log in to CB, it has those values at the top for Bitcoin, Ether and Litecoin. I'm in the UK so I've set everything to Euros. So if you look at those values, it says:

1 Ether coin is worth €383.97.

So what does this mean? I assumed this is the price at which I can buy an Ether coin on CB?

But it doesn't seem to be true, as when I tried to buy one, it actually bought it at the rate of €395.58.

Which is the price of Ether on GDAX.

So if I am buying and selling Ether at the rate on GDAX, what is the purpose of the values on my dashboard on CB?
