How/where do I store the more obscure cryptocurrencies?

Hi

I am interested in buying some of the smaller/less well known cryptocurrencies. Reading online it says to never store it on the exchange (e.g Binance)

But where can I store them then? I have a Ledger Nano S, but it does not have wallets for these obscure currencies..
