Question about buying dips and selling highs on alt coins?

When you sell high and turn your alt coins to bitcoin for example, can you keep your coins in bitcoin and buy back in when the price of the alt coin dips back down? Or once you get the bitcoin should you turn it back into Fiat wait for the dip, buy back into bitcoin and then buy back into the alt coin? This is assuming the bitcoin and alt coin are following a similar pattern?

Example: you sell alt coin x for .00005 bitcoin for 1000 shares.

You now hold 0.5 bitcoin

You wait for alt coin x to dip to .000025 bitcoin and buy back in. Now you can buy 2000 shares

If your just holding the bitcoin it doesn't matter the price of that bitcoin in fiat just how many bitcoin that alt coin costs? So whether 0.05 bitcoin is worth 100 or 130 USD if the price of alt coin x is .000025 then you can buy 2000 shares with you .05 bitcoin? Am I thinking about this correctly or am I missing something that I am not taking into account?

Apologize if the wording is confusing I'll try to clarify any questions
