Bittrex (or other exchange) - buying beyond budget by mistake - scenario

I have a question - I hope someone can answer.

For new users of exchanges - dealing with so many coins of so varying prices and dealing with BYC / satoshi it would be easy to get confused flicking between coins. What would happen if a person has say 1BTC in their account (at Bittrex) and by accident ordered 1.5BTC of ALT coins - for example they bought the wrong coin - the coin they wanted was $0.01 but they bought the same quantity of coins at say $1 thus spending 100x what they intended to - what would happen?
