Does Coinbase have any real reason behind bank transfers taking so long?

In the past with anything I've set up with my bank I've always seen the 3/4 day warning, but it usually hits my account within 2 days or less. I'm now about 6 days out for a buy and it's giving me an estimate of completing the transaction on Friday. Anyone else have this issue? Is there a reason these take so long and CC charges are instant?
