30/70 BTC/LTC, want to diversify

I’m hearing so much about XRP getting attention that I want to get my hand in. What’s the best way to get in? BTC exchange or purchase (USD). If latter, which exchange is best for USD purchase?

Secondly, I’d like to get into some quicker trading with other alts. What’s a good, reputable exchange to start playing with? Currently in GDAX and Bittrex.
