Brand new to trading, looking for some pointers!

Hi all.

Been lurking for a little while and doing my due diligence, ready to take the plunge and start trading. I've started the verification process at Poloniex, waiting on approval.

Would any of you savvy people recommend any other exchanges, or useful apps/links that helped you get started?

Or just any general things you wish you'd have known when you started?
