Selling Strategies

Since buying into crypto in June, my thinking has always been to hold. However the recent NEO run got me thinking that maybe I need to start selling at certain points.

I'm thinking that maybe if I double my initial investment on any altcoin that I then should take out my initial investment and move it into BTC. Would this be a wise idea or does anyone have any other strategies or ways of managing profits?
