Is this normal or is there a better way?

I wish to trade Steem so need to get btc into Bittrex via Coinbase.

To put $50 in Coinbase cost $2.00 and then to move the btc to Bittrex cost something like $5.00.

Is that how it's done or is there a less costly way?
