Beginner question about wallets

I always hear everyone talking about how I should not be keeping my coins in Coinbase or Bittrex, so I decided to download Exodus. However, I have some altcoins that Exodus does not support. Is there a wallet service that contains most cryptocurrency, or do you guys just have separate wallets for separate cryptocurrencies? And if so, how do you guys manage and keep track of all those different wallets? Thanks!
