Will alt coins fall if bitcoin doesn't handle August 1st well?

I've been hearing a lot of people saying to stay out of bitcoin right now and some have been buying alt coins just to hedge it in case bitcoin craps the bed. However, won't alt coins also fall since they usually follow bitcoin?

What is your plan of action before August 1st?
