What is the difference between trading in a BTC market vs. ETH market

I am looking into buying some shares of ANS on Bittrex.... Just wondering if there's really a big difference in how I obtain ANS? It seems like ETH-ANS is the cheaper market to do this transaction... unless I'm completely missing something.
