I sent bitcoin to my USDT wallet on a large US-based exchange. Is it recoverable?

The bitcoin was sent from another exchange and I used my USD Tether wallet address instead of my bitcoin wallet address. It was over a week ago and I haven't heard anything from support yet but I'm curious if I can expect to get my bitcoin back or is it lost? Apparently it depends on which currencies are involved but I can't find anything online about this kind of situation. Anybody know?
