Calculating REAL portfolio value.

I've been using the portfolio value estimates by the 3 exchanges I've been using, feeling very good about my 1 month success. However, I notice that the real situation is a bit different. I have a small amount of BTC locked up in an experimental trade that has recently lost nearly all Volume. What techniques do you use to calculate your REAL portfolio value? Or is looking at exchange estimates worth it unless you need to withdrawal at an extremely quick rate?
