Three ICO's worth a look this week, plus one you missed

Hey all, it seems this year we've had a bit of an ICO goldrush, with a lot of tokens built on ETH and other platforms raising funds via initial coin offerings.

There are also a lot of people asking about what might be the next big thing, and where they could invest. Im not sure I want to hand out investment advice, but here are three upcoming ICOs that have caught my eye and may be worth a look:

Patientory
website: https://patientory.com
whitepaper: http://ift.tt/2qq2c5I

Patientory hopes to be the leading provider of blockchain solutions for healthcare. The propose to use decentralized blockchain tech to coordinate patient care, manage electronic medical records, and interact with clinical care teams. The protocol has potential to improve security and efficiency, reduce costs, and eliminate third party intermediaries. Patient information has been a difficult issue for a long time. Health and government organizations spend a whole lot of time and money setting up and managing traditional information systems. If successful, Patientory could be a real winner.

ICO: May 31, 2017 at 09:00 AM PST, Minimum 40 ETH investment.

Mysterium
website: http://ift.tt/2oQamUe
whitepaper: http://ift.tt/2raOG6Z

The Mysterium Network is a distributed, trustless VPN. It aims to be fully decentralized, peer to peer based and serverless node network, providing privacy to its users with financial incentivization to its node operators (providers). Internet privacy is a growing concern and a growing uindustry, with the global VPN market expected to reach at USD 106 billion by end of year 2022. Mysterium could be positioned to be the cheapest and most secure VPN option.

ICO: 30th May 2017

Aeternity Phase II
website: http://ift.tt/2jspM1E
whitepaper: http://ift.tt/2nmbge0

Aeternity is a smart-contract platform similar to Ethereum, with a few differences and innovations drawn from other other blockchains. This is their "Phase Two" ICO, a second round. The first round raised $5.7 million in three days, at a price of 1000 AE / 1 Eth. The second round will start at 800 AE / 1 ETH, and progress to 649 AE / 1 ETH over 4 weeks.

Key Features:
- Smart Contract State Channels, the Lightning Network for smart contracts. Aeternity smart contracts exist in off-chain state channels, which makes them wicked fast, and private. This could be good and bad. Because the contracts are executed off chain, the code is not broadcast on the blockchain. This reduced transparency could scare off users, but businesses may prefer to keep their their records off-chain and not in public.

  • On-Chain Oracles, similar to Augur. These would allow Aeternity to run prediction markets natively. The Aeternity team even proposes to use prediction markets to govern the protocol itself, allowing prediction market concensus to influence feature development, and even fundamentals like blocktimes.

Im not completely sold on Aeternity, but I can see the benefits it could have to businesses particularly.

ICO: May 29th 2017, get in in the first 24 for the best price.

The one you missed:

Storj
Website: https://storj.io
whitepaper: http://ift.tt/2gNmplj

Storj is a blockchain cloud storage platform thats encrypted, distributed, and always up. Unlike traditional cloud hosting, there is no need to trust a corporation or their servers with your data. Files are broken into fragments, encrypted, and distributed around the network, so there is no chance of them being compromised, or lost. This project seems similar to Sia, which had a sucessful ICO not long ago, and has performed well since. A major difference I see is in the consumer pricing: Storj proposes to be dramatically cheaper than Sia for consumers to store data.

ICO: OVER! They reached their fundraising cap 6 days early, a hugely successful ICO with $30MM raised. Very interested to see how the token performs on open market.
