Spreadbetting on bitcoin in time for fork

Relatively new to trading so bare with me, but surely, if i was to time a sell order on platform which allows bitcoin spreadbetting, e.g. IG, I/everyone else could make some serious profit trading on the speculated price? Or am i being simple here?
