Can someone ELI5 some of the alternative cryptos available on Kraken?

Kraken seems like one of the most professional Exchanges out there. They don't support a lot of cryptocurrencies, but they have a solid 30+ trading pairs.

Anyway, I wanted to know a little bit more about some projects/tokens/cryptos that they support, like Gnosis, Augur and Melon. The first two look like want to solve the same problem and I have to admit that I didn't grasp what Melon is about. If someone could ELI5 these projects and/or hint on why Kraken decided to support these very specific projects instead of some other ones on the top 40-50 market cap, it would be much appreciated!
