Confused about how to read charts

I understand the first graph. Looking at http://ift.tt/19kguuB reveals that maid is worth $0.3, so it's shown as that on the graph because $0.3/$1 = 0.3.

The second graph is what confuses me. on coinmarket cap monero is listed at $40 and maid $0.3, and since the graph is listed as $40, however, $40/$0.3 = 133. It seems like it's doing it in the opposite direction ie 0.3/40 = 0.007.

I thought that in the instrument names the order mattered ie that MAID/USD meant how many USD you'd get for 1 maid and XMR/MAID meant how many MAID you'd get for 1 XMR but it seems that this is not the case, can anyone explain?
