Star Wars Coin - thoughts? Can a fan coin cash in on size of its following, or too gimmicky to take off?

Wondering if any other cryptocurrency has tried something like this before? It's clear they're going to have some issues regarding copyright, but from their website (starwars.network) it seems like this is kind of the point - decentralizing culture etc.

My questions are:

  1. Is a cryptocurrency based on a fan community the size of Star Wars likely to take off, or is it too gimmicky?

  2. Can copyright infringment actually hurt a coin's value? I mean it's obvious they'll come after the creators but right now I'm struggling to see why this would be a problem for the coin's value and I'm almost thinking it might draw more attention and be good for the coin.

I'm thinking about taking a punt in the presale just on hunch the fans are going to make this soar, but am very interested in diverging opinions.
