Decentralized Exchange Questions

I wanted to hear some feedback from you guys who have used decentralized exchanges. I've noticed that their daily volume's are fairly low.

Does anyone have any thoughts on why they aren't more popular? Is it bad UX? Higher fees? I'm thinking of trying one out but wanted to check with you guys and see if anyone had any input on the subject.
