Bittrex stole my Stellar Lumens - is there anything I can do?

Background:

  • I used the blackwallet.co web wallet to send my entire balance of XLM to the deposit address I was given on the Bittrex deposit wallet screen.

  • I also used the correct memo text (Bittrex support confirmed this) — both can be seen in the transaction screenshot that Bittrex support sent to me (http://ift.tt/2ifDFxG)

  • The blackwallet.co wallet automatically chooses to send the transaction as a MERGE when you choose to send your entire balance Bittrex support says they don’t support MERGE transactions and they “can’t perform manual work to recover my funds"

  • Nowhere on the wallet deposit screen and nowhere on bittrex.com do they say "do not use MERGE transactions when sending Stellar"

Bittrex support unapologetically refuses to help:

As it stands, they now own my coins — as a MERGE transaction is just another way of signing your XLM over to someone, further more, it seems no manual work is even required on their part to recover my funds because they already own my XLM. Is this correct?

I am entirely dissatisfied with Bittrex support (ticket #332467), Bittrex was entirely unsympathetic and unwilling to work with me, they just kept repeating:

"There s(sic) nothing i can do if you have sent it in this format. We have a policy in place for a reason, and there are no exceptions to the policy."

It seems to me, no policy was violated since they do not state not to use a MERGE request anywhere on the wallet deposit screen, or elsewhere on their website.

This is entirely frustrating and it feels like my coins were stolen from me.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can escalate this or any course of action I can take to resolve this issue?
