Which to begin mining, ETH or LTC

A college student who would like to start mining. I thought about Bitcoin, but the cost are too great at this time to build a rig that would be efficient.

Im thinking of LTC over ETH because the efficiency of the machines are just greater. For about 1.4k i could buy something with 4x the hashrate of a similarly priced ETH machine. my concern is that the trading market for LTC just insnt great.

according to this calculator, despite the absurdly large difference in prices of ETH and LTC, LTC still garners me 3x the income.

So my question which should i go for? and should i wait till a time that ETH is as profitable as LTC?

IDK much so be brutally honest.
