Advice on the best method of exchanging BTC to ETH?

I have decided that I want to switch all my holdings in BTC to ETH in the next week or so but I am not sure of the best way to go about doing this. ShapeShift and poloniex are the only platforms I have used but there is a lot of skepticism about poloniex at the moment and the fees seem pretty high with ShapeShift. Any advice appreciated on which service to use.
