I'm interested in how you all spot the next big profitable investment. Smart crypto investors have higher chances of predicting which new cryptos are likely to succeed - or at least they are able to identify decent candidates for a solid initial hype/gain. So what's your approach? I guess generally one would keep an eye on what's new, study the use cases, judge their infrastructure/devs, and whether the coin/platform has a worthy idea that others might be attracted to. Before I tell you how I fucked up, let me just say I am very aware of just how many newbie mistakes I made and how stupid I was. By all means, please feel free to laugh at my disgusting choices... the least my stupidity can do is serve as humor. Back in May/June, I bought around 600 Bitcoin at around 2700 USD. I'll let you do the math on how much that cost me. But I believed in Bitcoin. The original plan was just to hold them forever. I was pretty convinced Bitcoin was going to go to $10K by 2018. Had I just left the Bitcoins in my wallet and done nothing, I would be pretty happy right now at $4000 per coin. But no. I decided to try my hand at trading altcoins. I started off with Siacoin (this was back when there was hype around Siacoin). Put in 10 bitcoins into Sia, at 450 satoshis... Next day, Siacoin went up to 600 satoshis. Ok. Broad open ended mysterious question for a title to lure all the know it alls in. I missed the opportunity at Bitcoin. I was keenly aware of ethereums existence at around the 2 dollar mark and started hearing it was going to be huge, but, even tho I didn't really know anything or educate myself, I stubbornly told myself ahhh it will never come close to being anything like Bitcoin... Now that filecoin just released their ICO. I must know if people are done with Siacoin. Now that Filecoin publicly released their work I found Sia to be an attractive option for multiple reasons. Here's why: Siacoin is a competitor of both Storj and Filecoin. Sia is the only one that hasn't grown in the last month. Now that the FileCoin whitepaper has been released they can copy many of its proof features for their own purposes if people give them more money via investment into the coin. They'll have further capacity to hire algorithm experts and become a serious competitor to FileCoin. The price is so cheap right now that it would make sense to invest now before everybody else drops in for it. Assuming BTC increases to $5000 it'll correct around that point and people will place their crypto funds elsewhere. Sia seems to be a good candidate.
