Institution’s Guide to Bitcoin Price Manipulation

  1. Buy Bitcoin, driving up prices to create a sense of euphoria
  2. Short futures (by borrowing contracts to sell into the futures market, thereby raising a ton of cash)
  3. Spread FUD to reduce Bitcoin Prices
  4. Use raised cash in Step 2 to buy more Bitcoin on the dips
  5. Cover short position on futures contracts before or on expiration date – hoping that enough FUD was spread around for price suppression to yield YUUGE profits
  6. Use YUUGE profits to repeat Step 1 and whole cycle again
