Effect of Bitcoin fork on Promising Altcoins

Bitcoin is going up and Altcoins are going down. Even Altcoins that have a bright future. I feel surely the whole market can't be selling their altcoins for two unpromising bitcoin forks. OmiseGo for instance is being launched this quarter, yet the price continues to crash. Is this just because of the bitcoin fork? or are there other reasons at play here.

On a more personal note: I bought my OmiseGo at a high enough price, because I believed in the product. For this reason I don't want to sell it but I am afraid I will lose a significant amount of money just because of the bitcoin forks
