What's the safest (even if expensive) way to store different crypto?

I've been thinking of opening an index fund similar to the S&P 500 for crypto, but with 50 coins. I've been doing some back tests and the results are impressive (I'll publish my results next week hopefully when I'm done making sure it's all good).

The thing that is stopping me from doing so is how will I store the crypto? How to keep it safe? How do big exchanges do this?
