Why is everyone so hyped about IOTA?

I've already invested a small portion of my portfolio into mIOTA, but I was wondering. What exactly is making people so excited about this specific currency? From what I gather it is getting a demo with Microsoft and some other big corporations (which is of course exciting) and the market recently opened in China and Korea.

I am thinking about investing more into this currency but I was wondering if anyone could explain to me why it would be such a (potentially) good long term investment.
