Which indicators to use?

I just stack MACD and Bollinger bands, also a friend recommended the Williams Vix Fix thing which has been useful, I think, but I was wondering if there was a good set of indicators to utilize every time you do TA or if it just depends on the coin itself. I haven't looked into RSI yet and I can't understand fibs to save my life so I stopped bothering.

I wanted to know which indicators you guys personally preferred and employed.

Also bonus question: How long did it take you to reach a point where you trusted your own technical analytical/chart-reading/signal-making judgement?
