BHC mining right now and BTC transaction times?

I put a BTC transaction up almost 5 hours ago with a small fee and nothing is happening. when I asked about it on a different sub this was one of the responses:

"Miners are mining 6 times more than "they are supposed to", now, on BCH. This is because someone is propping up the price like 40-50% today, probably to make it insanely profitable to mine BCH."

How is this possible? Whales pushing tiny transactions with high fee offers? Is this common or just a weird no-2x fallout?
