For reliability and security, am I better off using Kraken or Bittrex?

I'm interested in buying large chunks of BTC during the next panic selloff. I plan on storing USD or USDT on the exchange until that time so I don't get stuck waiting for a deposit to confirm for a long time.

The main reason I'd choose Kraken over Bittrex is USD vs USDT, but if I can't make trades that won't matter so much.

Advice?
